Getting Back To Routines (and the Main House)

First, I should note, that I found out I can copy a Sim from my library of creations and have them in another game. I think that I’m going to bring Lillie and Meryl over and set her up in a house so that my Main House sims can get interaction with her.

I needed to take a moment to reorient myself with who is doing what in this house. There’s so much going on.

  • When we begin our adventure, Evan is sleeping in the bathtub, Niks is on the computer trolling people, Dorian is asleep (I’d forgotten how old he is, he’s sure to kick the bucket soon), Kenzie is wandering around being miserable for some reason, and Isla is working on a new game.
  • Oh yeah. Kenzie is miserable because it’s Love Day and her boyfriend is a ghost, and she can’t have any of the interactions with him because he won’t come over during the day. Right. Right right right.
  • Love Day was a failure for everybody. To be fair, this part of the game got added when they were in the middle of a day, and they didn’t all have time to do the things they wanted to. Next time.

I’ve decided to get rid of the Ghost House so that eventually Lillie and Meryl can move in. I’m going to go about it slowly though. I’m going to move the ghosts back over to the Main House one by one, suck up their simoleons and then release them into the Netherworld.

  • Delilah has been moved back into the house. She’s got quite a few royalties still coming in, so I think it’ll be a while before she gets booted back to real death.
  • Since Dorian has taken a shine to woodworking, the family has decided to invest in a retail space where he can sell his stuff. They’ll probably sell other stuff too, honestly. But this will give him a nice little project, and maybe he’ll stop moping around the house so much. Isla sure isn’t interested in him at all anymore.
  • Well, that worked a lot quicker than I thought it would. He was pretty instantly cheered up and excited after I finished setting the store up.
  • Niks got promoted at her job, she is now a Petty Thief.

I disabled auto aging for a little bit. I want to get some of these activities on hold without worrying about a time limit. And I’m not ready for Niks and Evan to be adults. They need to get their careers in place, and figure out if they are going to be a thing. Plus, now that Dorian is actually happy for a change, I’d like to give him some time in his life to be that.

I pulled Delilah back into the ghost house, because she’s got so much in royalties still coming in, and Zechariah was pissing me off, constantly coming to the house and breaking all the shit. While good for Evan, since he needs to level up his handiness skill, it’s really irritating to every other sim who has to deal with water everywhere and potential electrocution.

  • I guess it’s because they aren’t officially dating, but Evan wouldn’t sleep in the same bed with Niks. He instead crawled into bed with Kenzie. His mom. He’s. He’s too old for this. Why is this happening.
  • Dorian has been churning out woodworking like crazy. It’s like he gets into a loop. Make one, get inspired, make another. He’s going to have so much inventory for his little store.
  • Zech is returning to the Netherworld. See ya. Thanks for possessing my shit all the time, you dick.
  • This, oddly, has improved Kenzie’s mood a lot.
  • Evan got promoted to Low Orbit Specialist.
  • Dorian had a smashing day at his shop. He did really good business, a lot of people bought things, and he had a great time. Unfortunately, his employee cost him more than what he brought in. Hopefully he’ll be able to change that as he makes better stuff woodworking, and his business gains positive reputation.
  • Niks got promoted again, this time to Ringleader. She’s doing really well at this job. When she’s not at work, she sleeps a lot, though. It’s weird.
  • Moved Alexander into the house. He didn’t have anything going on at all, so he got sent to the Netherworld really fast. Mostly because I’m anxious to get Lillie into the other house.
  • Lillie and Meryl have been added to the Ghost House, and Delilah has been moved back into the Main House. We’ll let her do her thing for a while, and let the royalties run out, and then she can go away too.
  • Niks and Evan have shared their first kiss. It was super cute.
  • I got Evan the free services perk, and it’s really cut down on the amount of money leaving the house. These people really need a maid. None of them clean, ever. EVAN. WHY ARE YOU PEEING AND DRINKING COFFEE AT THE SAME TIME.
  • For some reason, Delilah will not do anything on her own. She stands around after work hungry, tired, and filthy.
  • The family got a money tree, Niks has taken up gardening.
  • Dorian is way too tied up in the store, I kept him from it for three days so he could make some more stuff, and now he’s very very sad again. VERY sad. So we’re going to the store.
  • Niks was promoted again. She makes a really good criminal, I guess.
  • Dorian’s day at the store was pretty good. He made some sales, talked to a few people, and discovered that he cannot order a pizza to the store for some reason. He was very very hungry by the time he got home, but ultimately much happier. I’m kind of getting sick of him, though. Might let him die.

Time To Catch Up

  • So Dorian and Isla suddenly want a baby. They’re both about to age up from adults.
  • Delilah and Zechariah have rekindled their romance after death and are married again. Oh yeah, and I set up a whole house of just ghosts.
  • As an adult, Abbie is not the kind of person I want for Evan. She’s erratic, mean, and a slob. I might cheat and build him a much better lady.

The last time I played was sometime after this, but I never made a Twitter update for it. I can vaguely recall what went on, so I’ll go ahead and make that my first official new post.

  •  I made two households, one with just the ghosts, since I kept pulling them in as playable. That house has Zechariah, Delilah, and Alexander.
  • The Main House got a massive upgrade. There’s a lot of space in it now for a thriving family. It still looks like it was a single room that was built up when money was gained, but that’s okay. We love it. It’s our house. It’s got Evan, Dorian, Isla, and Kenzie.
  • Evan is full on Young Adult now. Has a job. He’s a rocket scientist.
  • I decided to make him a brand new girlfriend, since Abbie was a really terrible person, and always seemed to drag Evan down when she was around. the new girl is named Niks Wright. She’s spunky and nerdy just like him and very friendly. I set her up in a pretty crap house, fully intending that she’ll just move into the Main House when the time comes.

Because of how long it took to get Niks set up, I didn’t really make a lot of progress in the game. But from here on out, there should be just fun updates!

Family Matters

MARCH 8, 2019

  • I’ll start this out by saying Sims 4 does not have an inheritance mechanic. Which is bullshit. The last time I plated Sims, I know that the next of kin got things when someone died. That they’d remove that is silly.
  • So I’ve got everyone split into two households at the moment, to retain houses and fortunes. House A is currently the twins, Isla and Kenzie. House B is Ghost Mom, Delilah, and Alexander Goth. We had some twists and turns last night.
  • Let’s start with Kenzie. She’s decided she’s really into working out. I don’t know where this came from, but she’s always on the treadmill. She hasn’t found a job yet, but she also writes and paints all day, so there’s actual income from her.
  • She went full on in her black widow scheme, and got impregnated – on her first woohoo experience, mind – by Alexander. Shotgun wedding. He did not move into the house.
  • In fact, to make room for baby, Delilah moved in with him, leaving the twins the family home. But she’s still there. All the time. So much, in fact, I’m finding it hard to believe she’s still going to work.
  • Alexander spends an okay amount of time with Kenzie, but not nearly as much as he had been. And when he’s over, he putters around the house, and kind of ignores Kenzie, while she desperately attempts to get him to acknowledge that she’s pregnant.
  • When she finally goes into labour, he’s not there at first. He walks in midway through, and proceeds to freak the fuck out. Baby Evan is born. It is IMMEDIATELY evident that Kenzie is going to be a better mother than Delilah. She’s so attentive.
  • She doesn’t let Evan cry for even two seconds before she’s seeing what he needs. Thank the dark lord for that. Know who else loves baby? Isla. Also attentive! Alexander isn’t awful. When he’s there.
  • Evan has made it to toddlerhood, and that’s about where I ended it at 4:30am, so let’s have a peek at how Isla is doing.
  • So, remember how she is the dumb one? Peeing herself and passing out because she won’t leave the computer? She got playing around with programming, which seemed to turn her around. So I pushed her into a tech job. Guess who doesn’t pee on herself anymore?
  • In fact, Isla is doing really well. Not just at her job. Turns out, she is also really social. She’s got scores of friends now. Just oodles of them.
  • She likes going out, she likes meeting people, and she likes parties. Who knew finding her a career that makes her happy would have such an impact? (That’s sarcasm. We all knew.)
  • She met a gal at a party. Her name is Staci. It seemed for a minute that Isla abs Staci were going to have a romantic thing. I actually don’t know what happened here. They’re still friends, but the romance seems to have died out.
  • She did pick up another romance by the name of Dorian. Dorian is pursuing pretty hard. I think they met at work? I don’t know. Maybe Staci introduced them. He’s always at the house, though. Seems cool.
  • Isla has also, since Dorian showed up, taken an interest in running. And showering. I think I have to stop calling her the dumb one, now. She was apparently just a late bloomer.
  • I should also mention that Evan is not bothered AT ALL by the ghosts who are constantly hanging around.

Oh yeah. And I think Alexander is going senile. This is him with Isla. In her bedroom.

Aaaand this is him going outside.

This is Dorian, btw. He always walks like that?

  • Well. Alexander died. Right after they had another woohoo. That’s not traumatic or anything.
  • WAIT. WAIT WAIT WAIT. KENZIE JUST FLIRTED WITH THE REAPER.
  • Maybe… Maybe this was the plan all along. Maybe it wasn’t really ever about Alexander, he was just a means to an end? Can I actually pursue this? Can death be Kenzie’s boyfriend, or am I misreading their giggling?

Now With Pictures!

MARCH 1, 2019

Me: just gonna play Sims for an hour or so. Me, 4 hours later: *has achieved almost no story, but has moved house to bigger lot, built outbuilding, perfected sim outfits, rearranged house and bought new furniture.*

  • Okay, since there was a request, I’m back on the Sims bullshit to get some images of the house. Before I get started on posting that, I have some updates.
  • Getting Ghost Mom back into the family structure also brought back her writing royalties. Which means the twins are no longer in danger from their massive bills and lack of income. I wish this is how real life worked.
  • This means that the dumb sister doesn’t have to be married off now, and she can focus on her videogames. As if she could ever be PRIED AWAY FROM THE COMPUTER TO DO SOMETHING USEFUL OR CONTRIBUTE TO THE HOUSEHOLD.
  • This also means the smart sister’s apparent plot to marry the last Goth heir right before he dies to inherit his money is no longer necessary. I might let her see it through anyway. Just to. You know. No reason. I’m not into this black widow idea. What are you talking about.
  • I realize I may have neglected to mention this. She took up a romance with him despite my urging otherwise. She’s “young adult” age, and he’s “elder”. I can’t figure another reason why she’d be doing this.
  • Anyway. Pictures.

Here’s the exterior of the house. It started small, and I kept building on. I think it’s got a classic feel of “Hey! We have money now! Let’s add a room!”

This whole floor was built to help the parents get away from the children they didn’t take care of. Now it belongs to Smart Sister, Kenzie. I don’t play favourites, what.

Main floor, which includes the twins’ old bedroom, which now belongs to Dumb Sister, Isla. Yes, I even crammed her work space in there. I did change the shared downstairs bath to her en suite. I’m not a complete monster.

The basement offices and gym. The only way to keep my original Sim, Delilah, happy, since it kept roommate-turned-husband, Zechariah away from her. Seriously. Why did they want to get married so bad? Kenzie uses these rooms now.

Backyard mausoleum exterior.

Mausoleum interior. The extra urns are because when I moved the house, I did something wrong and it copied everything. They’re empty, and monetarily worthless, so I kept them as decoration.

  • All the paintings you see everywhere were done by Zechariah. There’s more that don’t show because I took these in build mode with the walls down. Getting into the spaces to show them off with the walls up is a PITA.
  • For all his faults – being gloomy, clingy, socially inept, I do have to say that Zechariah was a prolific painter. Most of the family fortune comes from the sheer number of masterpieces he cranked out. Or that I made him crank out. Whatever.
  • Is it sweet or weird that Kenzie AND her elderly boyfriend both just had their first kiss?
  • I swear to god if Isla pees herself or passes out from exhaustion one more time because she refuses to get up from the fucking computer, I’m gonna find a way to set her on fire. THIS IS WHY I CALL YOU THE DUMB ONE, ISLA.
  • Also, in death, Delilah and Zechariah have forgotten they were married, and are starting a new romance. I mean. Guys. You kinda failed at this once already.
