Slogging through winter

  • Evan has been promoted to Space Ranger! He’s now the top of his field.
  • Niks has been promoted to The Oracle! She, too, is now in the top of her field. I guess this means I have to stop putting off marriage and kids and whatnot. Fine. FINE. But they’re having a spring wedding.
  • To celebrate their mutual career advancement, Niks has invited Evan out for a night on the town, just the two of them. They’re headed off to San Myshuno to the Stargazer’s Lounge.
  • Oh no. Somebody was talking to the toilet, so Evan peed himself. While on his date with Niks! How awful!
  • To fix the situation, Evan has decided to swim in the pool. In winter. Much like his mother, and her poor snowy weather decisions, he almost froze to death. But at least he’s cleaner now? I guess?
  • Despite these mishaps, the date has gone off remarkably well. So well, in fact, that Niks is thinking about proposing to Evan!

  • He’s said yes!

Enthusiastically.

  • Kenzie went to the store again, she was profitable, but I think maybe she needs to set up a fridge in there and perhaps a couch for napping? She seems to get exhausted fast. And I think also she needs to fire her elderly employee and hire somebody younger, not that she doesn’t like her employee, it’s just that she takes forever to walk to the customers or do anything.
  • Somebody, I won’t say who (It was me) didn’t think about how much it would suck to have outdoor offices during the winter. Now certain sims are attempting to go do their work while there’s a blizzard. I have made a huge mistake.
  • Everyone is headed to the Romance Festival. Evan and Niks are already feeling romantic and have gotten engaged, so this is just going to be an added bonus for them. Everyone is probably going to freeze to death, though, since I doubt that there was any foresight to put it inside at this time of year.
  • Well, since it’s Neighborhood Brawl as well as the Romance Festival, there’s people flirting and fighting everywhere. This is an interesting mix that I might actually be down with if it were a real event.
  • Niks has asked the Guru about her current relationship. He has told her that it is a match made to last the ages.
  • Kenzie is alternately flirting with and fighting one of the alien girls, Lauryn.
  • Ohno. Evan is fighting the Romance Guru… and because they were in the middle of the fight when Neighborhood Brawl ended, they now despise each other, and Kenzie is mad because she caught Evan fighting in public.
  • Apparently the weather held while the festival was going on, and now that it’s over, everyone is caught in a blizzard, trying to get home. It’s kinda funny, but I feel like this might be a huge game flaw that got overlooked.

After festival blizzard.

  • Kaye, one of the aliens, is standing in the kids’ playroom in the house and crying over the dollhouse. Do dollhouses represent something different on her planet? Is it a shrine one erects for their dead? Did she lose a child? Oh god. I don’t know why this is happening.

I don’t understand what’s happening.

  • Evan’s going back through the wormhole to explore. What will he find this time? A new pet? More aliens? (Oops, he was supposed to be at work. I hope he doesn’t get fired.) He’s met another alien friend, and now he’s digging up space artefacts to bring home for Niks. And… now he’s going to work in the middle of our exploration, thanks a lot, Evan.
  • Niks met a fellow through work a while back named Desmond. They were just work pals. He’s never even been over to the house. Since then, he’s called Niks every day asking her to go out to dinner.
  • Winterfest is upon us. We shall decorate and make everything festive. We shall wait the long days until the first day of spring while trying to plaster smiles on our faces. We don’t hate the snow. The snow is good. It is fine. It blankets everything in pureness and doesn’t cut down on the amount of fun we can have at all. We certainly don’t freeze when we go out in it.
  • Kenzie has decided to go on a date with Lauryn at Chez Llama, the alien has been asking her for days, but it’s always at a time when she’s about to go to bed, or in the middle of an event. Now it’s lined up that she’s free, and she’s going to take the opportunity. She hasn’t been on a date in a really long time, and after her last issue with the maid, I think she needs some companionship.
  • This might be further evidenced by the almost immediate desire to WooHoo with Lauryn as soon as they got to the restaurant.
  • They might be a perfect match. Lauryn has begun to clean the kitchen while they wait for a table.
  • Lauryn and Kenzie really really like each other. This is fantastic.

Look how cute they are!!!!

  • However, they do not like the people that are sitting near them. They are currently talking shit about them, but it seems to be strengthening the connection, so do you, gals, do you.
  • … either Kenzie or Lauryn got their meal for free… (the pop up says “for a star like you, it’s on the house). Weird.
  • The date went fabulously. They chatted the entire time, flirted with one another a lot, and stayed up way past their bedtimes. Now they’re going to their respective homes, which is a good thing. Kenzie needs a cooling off period before she makes decision she’s not ready for. I have a feeling that Lauryn is not the type to mess around, she’s in it all or nothing.
  • Time for Winterfest! Everybody will have a quick nap before they get to the festivities, though, since it seems that nobody took care of themselves while I was helping Kenzie with her date.
  • They’ve all had a nice lovely meal, sang together, decorated the tree, and now they’re opening presents.

Tree decorating and present time! And Niks getting into gifts when she’s not supposed to.

  • Somebody gave Niks pet poop. Isla got a train set, but just the cargo car of it. Kenzie got some turquoise. And Evan got a Littlehaven postcard. These aren’t very good gifts. Do Sims suck at gift giving?
  • Disappointed with her gift, Niks snuck one more and got Ozinold. She’s happier with it, but Evan caught her doing it.
  • Father Winter has appeared! And oddly, there’s an option to fight him for gifts? WTF.

  • Instead of fighting him, the family has opted to talk to him and invite him to sit for a while. They can ask for presents this way, like sane and rational people. Niks got a robot vacuum dock, Evan got The Schmapple Coffee (whatever that is), Kenzie got one, too. Niks gave Father Winter some of her bees’ honey. Isla has received a Hopper (which has turned out to be a little figurine). All in all it was a very good Winterfest.
  • Lauryn has asked Kenzie out on another date, they’re going to go to a secret concert.
  • The easel downstairs has a really creepy picture on it, and it seems that none of my sims are responsible, because none of them can interact with it. Where did it come from? Why is it half finished? Why does it appear that a child was doodling on the canvas? There are no children here.

Creepy-ass painting.

  • Kenzie has wandered away from the house again, and made a dog friend, again. This dog’s name is Huey.  Oh, now she’s on to a cat. A very sick cat named Squee. I think Kenzie is desperate for company of any kind.
  • Finally Lauryn has called again, and this time they’re going to go hang out in a park. I don’t know how good of an idea this is, as it’s STILL WINTER, LAURYN. But maybe they’ll have a good time.
  • The park that Lauryn has taken Kenzie to is a wedding destination. I think it may be a way-too-strong signal of what Lauryn wants. Fortunately, it has also given me an idea of where Evan and Niks should get married.

Bonus Pictures:

Isla’s mysterious spots, from last time, forgot to include the picture.

This guy from the night that Niks and Evan got engaged. Why. Why are you wearing those pants.

Niks and Kenzie played outside together, making snowpals, and this is the result. I think they’re adorable.
